As an experienced Innovation Coach, you are one of the key players of innovation at the SNCB, supporting the digital transformation of the SNCB. You will coach and assist the different business units of the SNCB and Ypto (IT-division of SNCB) with innovation activities, defining and shaping the future SNCB and Ypto.
What do we expect from you
As a hands-on Innovation Coach you will be part of the Ypto Innovation Center of Excellence (ICE). You are passionate about innovation, emerging technologies and digital transformation. The world is transforming at an exponential pace and the mobility market is no exception. The SNCB and Ypto constantly strive to set new standards for excellence. Innovation is at the core of our values, and we believe that embracing cutting-edge ideas and technologies is the key to our future success. Our transformation is driven by digitalization, changing customer (passengers of the SNCB) behaviour and the drive for operational excellence. More and more we received requests for innovation activities from the business units of the SNCB, therefore we decided to create a dedicated team to support these innovation activities. What a journey it has been so far. What started as one single contact person grew into a dynamic team of innovation experts and enthusiasts, 100+ proof-of-concepts, events, studies and many active innovators across the entire organisation.
Your role
As our Innovation Coach, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionizing the way the SNCB and Ypto operate, innovate, and adapt to the rapidly changing landscape of the mobility market. You will collaborate closely with various business units, from engineering and operations to customer service and marketing, to unleash the full potential of their talented workforce. Your primary focus will be to create a culture of innovation, ideation, and continuous improvement.
Within the ICE team you will be one of the key players coaching and supporting these innovation activities:
- Supporting SNCB teams, Ypto teams and individuals seeking innovation coaching services.
- Collect market information, trends, emerging technologies, knowledge, … and facilitate research (studies).
- Initial assessment and discovery of client’s innovation needs and goals.
- Development of customized innovation coaching plan.
- Delivery of innovation training and coaching sessions.
- Ongoing innovation progress tracking.
As an innovation enthusiast:
- You assist in managing overall scope definition, planning, staffing, and delivery until closure and handover (optional).
- You assure proper organization of the innovation activities and assist in administrative tasks.
- You are a clear communicator upstream and downstream, separate core information from details and define concise messages. You communicate with different internal and external stakeholders to manage expectations on deliverables and outcome of the innovation activities.
- You have a positive and constructive approach, both as a team player as well as in supporting the positive image of Ypto.
- You have a broad knowledge of different emerging technologies and disruptive solutions.
- You have knowledge of Design Thinking, Service Design, Lean Startup and/or Agile approaches.
- You have a demonstrated skill in guiding teams through the change process and managing resistance effectively.

We are looking for an awesome Innovation Coach with the following experience and/or competencies:
- Diploma: Master's degree (or equivalent through experience)
- You have relevant hands on experience as a project manager
- You have preferably between 5-10 years of relevant experience within innovation.
- You have a very good written and oral knowledge of Dutch or French and English.
- Pro-active mentality, strong problem solving techniques, hands-on and organized.
- Able to manage several tasks at the same time, stress resistant.
- Able to go after information and people (with regard to internal and external contacts).
- Able to quickly adapt to a new situation and act as a true evangelist for innovation.
Hands-on experience in one of the following domains will be considered as an asset:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Augmented (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR)
- Internet-of-Things (IoT)
- Application development (web, mobile and smart devices)
- Cloud Infrastructure
